How Can You Help At Home?
  • Help your student practice and memorize their lines
    • Make sure they know their cue (the line before theirs) so they remember when to say each line
  • Encourage your student to deliver their lines loudly, proudly and with expression
  • Ask your student to retell the story of the play using sequencing words (First, Next, Then, Last)

After School Conversation Starters
  • What is an ensemble?  How do actors develop a strong ensemble?
  • Why is it important for actors to warm up?  Can you show me the warm ups your class uses in theater?
  • What are your strengths as an actor?  What do you want to work on?
  • Ask questions to help your student embody their character:
  • How would you describe your character?  What in the story makes you think that?
  • How would they move?
  • What is their motivation? (What do they want?)
  • How are you similar to your character?  How are you different?  Do they remind you of any other characters you've seen? (in books, movies, television or other plays)
